Women We’ve Helped

  • Linda Hamilton

Jackie provided me with the tools I needed to be successful once I was released from custody. She taught me how to take a look at myself to take the changes I needed to take to be successful with my life.

  • Summer Stephan, District Attorney, San Diego

Jackie Reed and her dynamic team at WISE have initiated a noble mission: to counsel, educate, and prepare women inmates for successful re-entry into their communities; to train, support, and assist women upon release to overcome discrimination, negative stigmas, and other obstacles associated with their past and re-entry needs; thereby, empowering them to become self-sufficient and productive members of society.

As District Attorney, my priority is the safety of our communities and protection of the most vulnerable. The work that WISE is doing is an important factor for those looking for a second chance after completing their sentencing and being able to successfully re-enter society.

Thank you for the work you do – you are making a real difference…

  • Carla Williams - Project Redwood Sponsor

Project Redwood invests in leading nonprofits that make outsized impacts to their communities.

W.I.S.E. founder Jackie Reed is a wonderful example of an individual reaching beyond themselves and their circumstances to truly make a difference in the lives of others. Herself a former felon, Ms. Reed founded this grassroots nonprofit to give other women access to the things she lacked when she was released from prison – clothes that fit, bus passes, a place to live, the chance to get a job, a person in your corner to help you through. Forced to scramble in so many ways, formerly-incarcerated women can easily end up back in jail. Jackie works to keep “her ladies” sober, working and of course, out of jail. I salute Jackie for her tireless commitment to changing the course of lives!
